UCANRAA holds annual auction

The UConn College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Alumni Association (UCANRAA) held its fifteenth Annual Cornucopia Alumni Auction on Sunday, September 25, 2011, in conjunction with the College’s Cornucopia Fest. This year the event raised over $10,000. Using proceeds from the auction, UCANRAA has built a permanently endowed scholarship in the UConn Foundation. Over the last fifteen years, UCANRAA has donated more than $80,000 in auction proceeds to the College for undergraduate scholarships, for faculty and staff recognition and for activities and programs that support the staff and students of the College. Board members Jessica Hart and Brandon Hyde chaired the event, and auctioneer John Bennett led the action.

UCANRAA would like to thank Board members, alumni, volunteers and donors for contributing to the outstanding success of this year’s auction. We look forward to seeing you there next fall. For more information about the auction, contact Pam Chudzik at Pamela.chudzik@uconn.edu.

6th Annual Career Night

On November 9, 2011, the College and UCANRAA partnered to host the 6th annual Career Night. Each year, this event brings together students who have an interest in agriculture, health, environment, and related fields with employers in these areas. It provides an opportunity for students to connect with representatives from their current or potential fields of stud, and to learn about available career options.

This year, more than ninety alumni and career representatives attended and were available to speak with attendees. Approximately 250 students from departments throughout CANR, as well as other majors in the University, came to network and learn about possible career options.

Career Services, Study Abroad and Graduate School representatives were also present. Career Night is held in the Wilbur Cross North and South Reading Rooms in November each year. It is open to current UConn students of any year, and high school and prospective students as well. For more information about Career Night contact Pam Chudzik at Pamela.chudzik@uconn.edu, or visit http://www.myagnr.uconn.edu/careernight.php.
