The Honorary Cooperative Extension System Fraternity
University of Connecticut Alpha Chi Chapter
 

The Connecticut Alpha Chi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Chi (ESP), the honorary Cooperative Extension System Fraternity, offers financial support to CES staff through three scholarships and one award.  Epsilon Sigma Phi also offers seven recognition awards to CES staff and friends. Please nominate your colleagues who deserve recognition.

All Extension System staff, whether classified, paraprofessional, field faculty or specialist, are eligible to apply for these scholarships and the award.  Applicants should fill out the appropriate application form. Return the completed application form to the Chairperson of the Awards Committee.  The applications will be reviewed  by the Committee and awarded at the ESP Annual Awards Presentation.

SCHOLARSHIPS

 
Criteria for Scholarships
The Alpha Chi Chapter Scholarship Given to a deserving Extension System worker to pursue a program of professional improvement that will result in benefit to the Extension System in Connecticut.  Such improvement can include Extension schools, workshops, short courses, regional or national professional meetings, or taking college courses for undergraduate or graduate credit. The Doris Lane Scholarship Awarded to benefit Extension programming. The applicant should have been on staff at least two years to be eligible and priority will be given to those having no other source of support funding. This scholarship is restricted to those who enroll in relevant formal academic course. Applicants must document course enrollment. Complete application form here.
The Mary "Lib" Jacobson Scholarship Awarded to Extension staff pursuing courseware in human nutrition. The applicant may be a professional or a paraprofessional participating in nutrition courses or workshop. Applicants must document enrollment or registration in courses or workshop. Criteria for Award
Arland Meade Communications Award Recognizes CES staff who help improve communications within or for Cooperative Extension AND who are not in positions that the University of Connecticut designates as "professional." Complete application form here.

 
Criteria for Recognition Awards
Meritorious Support Service Award Nominees must have demonstrated significant support and assistance for Extension. Here is a chance to nominate a support staff member - program assistant, secretary, clerical worker, janitor. Complete application form here.
Team Award Recognizes significant contribution to the state's response to National Initiatives by two or more staff working as a team. Complete application form here.
Retirees Service Award Recognizes a retiree's continuing contributions to the university, Extension and/or his or her community. Complete application form here.
Distinguished Service Award Recognizes a member of Epsilon Sigma Phi who has contributed significantly to Extension program planning and delivery. Complete application form here.
