Education Connection, Litchfield, CT

Quality school-age child care programs continue to enhance a child's learning and school readiness.

Responses To Commonly Asked Questions

Why should SACC providers be concerned about school readiness? Preschool children move to our programs directly from School Readiness or preschool child care programs. Our programs continue what the children have already learned.

How can we, as SACC providers, do more to continue school readiness? Continue to use professional development training for SACC staff. Establish a partnership between our schools and communities. Keep program enrollment open, so all children have access. Use parent involvement as a focus in our programs. Refer families to other community programs and agencies, as needed.

What is our role in a child's educational development? We enhance a child's learning during the school day by providing enjoyable learning experiences before and after school. In our programs, children are learning: social skills, how to make friends, how to get along with others, and how to share.
