This minor provides students with an opportunity to pursue an interest in therapeutic riding programs, and provides a basis for further study and certification as a therapeutic riding instructor or director.

The requirements for this minor are at least 16 credits of coursework. The student must complete all of the following courses:

• ANSC 3453 OR 1 semester of Horse Practicum, Pleasure Horse Appreciation and Use
• ANSC 2251 - Horse Science
• *ANSC 3456 – Light Horse Training and Management
• *ANSC 4457 – Methods of Equitation Instruction
• ANSC 3691 – Professional Internship

  The student must also complete a minimum of 8 credits of coursework by choosing from the following courses: ARE 3215C, ARE 4217, PNB 2264/2265 OR PNB 2274/2275, HDFS 2100, HDFS 2100, and BADM 3740.

• ARE 3215C Business Management
• ARE 4217 - Business Finance in Food and Resource Industries
• PNB 2264/2265 – Human Physiology and Anatomy OR PNB 2274/2275 – Enhanced Human Physiology and Anatomy
• HDFS 2100 – Human Development: Infancy Through Development
• HDFS 2200 – Human Development: Adulthood and Aging
• BADM 3740 – Managerial and Interpersonal Behavior

  This minor is offered by the Animal Science Department. *Students must ride Huntseat at Intermediate II level or higher in order to register for this class.
