Food Security

The Food Security Program reaches out to communities to provide food and nutrition education to food stamp recipients and to people who receive food from emergency food programs. Local programs take place at emergency food sites, shelters, farmers markets, mobile food pantries and community centers.

Workshops are fun and interactive. They usually include a tasting demonstration on how to choose and fix healthy meals and snacks. Food safety and nutrition education materials (recipes, brochures) are often put into food bags assembled at emergency food pantries. Low-literacy and Spanish materials are available.
